Zarbaliyeva / The Court declined the petition lodged by the detained ex-officer of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Internal Ministry of Azerbaijan, Haji Mammadov. The cases included into the petition were brought in the first degree of jurisdiction, the Baku Appeals Court reported to Trend Agency.
Adil Ismaylov, Zakir Nasirov's attorney, the former Chief of the Department, lodged a petition against Zakir Garallov, the Azerbaijani Public General Prosecutor, his Deputy, Rustam Usubov, as well as Maharram Aliyev, the former Chief of the Central Police Station of Baku City, Tofik Babayev, the ex-Deputy Minister of National Security and Eldar Ahmadov, the Chief of the General Prosecutor's Department.
The attorney appealed asking that the Court cancels the illegal and groundless sentence and delivers a fair verdict.
Nasirov became one of Mammadov's greatest victims. "The sentence passed by the Court was a result of a secret deal among the National Security Ministry, Prosecutor's Office, the Court, and Mammadov," he said.
According to the attorney, the accusations against Nasirov have not been proven. The accusations have been lodged against Nasirov based on an unfounded statement by Mammadov.
"Mammadov's guardians work in the General Prosecutor's Office. The Prosecutor's Office always protects Mammadov. You should look for the reasons that most of Mammadov's criminals end up in the Prosecutor's Office," the attorney said.
The attorney and Nasirov will deliver a speech in the second part of the day.
The Court ruled Mammadov's property was to be seized and he was sentenced to life imprisonment. Members of the gang Farhad Mammadbayov (with confiscation of property), Eldar Rahimov (with confiscation of property), Malik Mammadov (with confiscation of property), Huseyin Abdulvahabov (with confiscation of property), Zakir Nasirov (with confiscation of property), Kamil Sadraddinov (with confiscation of property), Musa Dabuyev, Aslanbay Chintamirov, and Yagir Mammadov were sentenced to life imprisonment. The other defendants Nizami Abdullayev (with confiscation of property), Sidak Abdulvahabov, Rovshan Agayev were sentenced to fifteen years, Naila Guliyeva (with confiscation of property) and thirteen years, Adalat Asadullayev and Novruz Nuriyev sentenced to twleve years, Aligulu Guliyev, Nishad Ismayilov sentenced to ten years, Faik Guliyev, Elchin Aliyev (with confiscation of property) and nine years, and Mehman Hasanov, Fariz Gamidov, and Elshan Mirzayev to eight years imprisonment.
