Biggest Problem of Azerbaijani Women in Britain is Poor Knowledge of English Language

Great Britain, London, 28 January / Trend corr. G.Ahmadova / "The biggest problem for Azerbaijani women in London is a poor knowledge of the English language. However, a good understanding of the language could bring our women into society," Simuzar Baloglanova, the chairman of the Sara Khatun organization, stated during the second meeting of the organization held on 27 January.

"Azerbaijani women must have a good understanding of English in order to demand their rights in the country," she said. According to Baloglanova, today, the biggest priority is creating English language training courses in the House of Azerbaijan. Then we can strengthen our ties with women's organizations of Britain.

Twenty-five women of different ages, who live in London, as well as Nigar Hasanzadeh, the Azerbaijani poetess, attended the Sara Khatun meeting.

Most participants of the meeting noted that they did not take an active part in public work in Britain. The biggest reason for their passive life in London is the lack of English. They have to sit at home and be a housewife. "I would like you take an interest in public work and understand that besides being a housewife you are an individual," Baloglanova noted.

The next biggest Sara Khatun project is the on air Day of Azerbaijani cookery in one of London's town halls. The chairman of Sara Khatun proposed holding similar monthly meetings in London.

Sara Khatun launched its first project and announced the national beauty contest among young Azerbaijanis, who live and study in Britain.

The key goal of Sara Khatun, established in 2007, is unification of Azerbaijani women who live in Britain and European countries.
