Azerbaijan, Baku, 7 July / Trend / K.Zarbaliyeva / The head of the Azerbaijani Health Ministry Department wants his release ahead of schedule, Trend reports.
Alexander Umryashkin, a former head of the International Relations Department of the Health Ministry, was imprisoned for four years with the charge of corruption.
Umryashkin appealed to the Baku Appeal Court with the request of release. Umryashkin's appeal on the sentence by the Narimanov District Court was rejected at a court meeting held on 7 July.
Although the prisoner appealed to the Narimanov District Court for his release, the court rejected his request.
Isakhan Ashurov, Umryashkin's law defender, said that he would make a cassation appeal to Supreme Court on the sentence of the Baku Appeal Court.
The former head of the department, arrested in 2005, is serving his punishment at reformatory 10.
