Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 October / Trend corr. J.Babayeva / Huseyn Bagirov, the Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, participated in opening ceremony of modern water purifying unit in Aliabad village of Bilasuvar Region (130km of Baku) on 21 October. According to the Minister, this water purifying unit is a production of Hyundai company and was manufactured in accordance with the most contemporary osmosis technology. "A total of 1,250 residents of Aliabad village will use drinkable water, which will be purified through module kind of unit with 30 cu.m of capacity, from 11 springs a day," the Minister said. In accordance with the Azerbaijani President's decree on measures to improve supply of people with ecologically pure water, dated back 20 June in 2007, it is planned to supply some populated areas, which use water of the Kur and Araz rivers as drinkable water, with ecologically pure water. So, it is planned to purify water for 166,000 villagers with water in line with standards of the World Health Organization through installation of module type of water purifying units in 100 villages, which suffer from water deficit. At present measures continue to provide 50 populated areas of 12 villages with qualitative water. |
More than 55,000 residents of 50 settlements of Yevlakh, Zardab, Kurdamir, Imihsli, Sabirabad, Saatli, Salyan and Neftchala Regions, who suffered from drinkable water deficit, have been provided with pure water in 2007 under the President's decree.
