Modern Hyundai water purifying devices were commissioned in the Malikli, Gedekgobu and Yukhari Seyidler villages in Zardab. The devises use contemporary osmosis technology.

"The devices are capable of treating 30 cubic meters of water per day. This will enable 1,805 people in Malikli to have drinkable water from 15 springs; 1,345 residents in Gedekgobu to have drinkable water from 10 springs; and 760 residents in Yukhari Seyidler to have drinkable water from 8 springs," Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Huseyngulu Bagirov said.

Pure water will be supplied to settlements under a presidential decree to supply residents with ecologically drinkable water dated June 20, 2007. These settlements used to have water from the Kur and Araz rivers

The decree also stipulates installing such devices in 100 villages with poor quality water. Villages with populations over 166,000 residents will have drinkable water meeting World Health Organization norms. Work is underway in 50 settlements in 12 regions.

Over 55,000 people in 50 settlements in Yevlakh, Zardab, Kurdamir, Imishli, Sabirabad, Saatli, Salyan and Neftchala have already been provided with drinkable water.
