A new law on NGOs, which is expected to be approved shortly, will not create problems for acting non-governmental organizations, head of the Presidential Administration Public and Political Department Ali Hasanov said.
"The new law meets international standards and will encourage the development of interstate relationships. Before, Azerbaijani NGOs cooperated with foreign colleagues as they whished that. Under the new law, NGOs will cooperate with foreign organizations in accordance with agreements between Azerbaijan and those countries," Hasanov said.
Hasanov did not share the concern of some NGOs about the new law. "Azerbaijani NGOs of state registration will continue functioning and there is no threat for new founded non-governmental organizations," Hasanov added.
