The new Georgian Minister of Defense, Bacho Akhalaya, has told media the priorities of his work in his new post. The statement was made after a meeting of the Council of National Security, where he was appointed minister.
"Our major task is to increase defense capacity and to modernize the army for integration with NATO," the minister said.
He stressed that the new appointment was a big responsibility for him. "I am responsible for all military men and their families," Akhalaya said.
Regarding possible staff changes, the minister said that they would not be significant.
