Results of competition for media outlets to get financial aid announced in Azerbaijan

On September 1, the Media Development State Support Fund under the Azerbaijani President has announced the results of the competition for media outlets to get financial support in 2009.
"About 55 projects became winners among 112 ones submitted for the competition, announced on July 1," Executive Director of the Fund, Vugar Safarli, said at a press-conference held in the international press-center of Trend news agency on September 1.
The Media Development State Support Fund under the Azerbaijani President has announced the competition in 12 trends on June 25. Maximal sum for each project is worth 20,000 manat. The bids were received from July 1-31.
Fund state aid to the media at the President of Azerbaijan on June 25 was declared the contest in 12 directions. The maximum amount for each project was included in the amount of 20,000 manat. Applications are accepted from 1 to 31 July.
Safarli said that there are 30 newspapers, 13 news agencies, 6 journalists' organizations and 6 other corresponding organizations.
Trend news agency is among the winners.
More than 3,300 media outlets were registered in Azerbaijan. Currently only 600 of them function. Nearly 400 newspapers and magazines are published and more than 20 television channels function. There are about 50 electronic media outlets, 20 news agencies, and the rest are the Internet resources in Azerbaijan.
