Azerbaijani sportsmen who gained five medals at the European Judo Championship returned to home on September 14. "I am very glad that Azerbaijan's national anthem was sounded in an enemy country," said Elmar Gasimov.

"I am very glad that the Azerbaijani flag was raised in an enemy country, and our anthem was sounded. I believed that I would become a champion. When Azerbaijan's national anthem was sounded, I looked around and saw that many people stood up," said the European champion.

Azerbaijan was represented at the European Championship by five judokas, and all gained medals: Ilgar Mushikev (55 kg) - silver medal, Rasim Asadullayev (60 kg), Fagan Eminoglu (66 kg), Ramin Gurbanov (81 kg) - bronze medal, Elmar Gasimov (101 kg) - gold medal.
