The trial on persons accused of drug and arms trafficking from Iran to Azerbaijan have been launched.

On Sept. 25, the Azerbaijani Serious Crimes Court held a preparatory meeting on the criminal case on Iranian citizens, Samandari Mahar Hamid oglu, Rzai Mirzabil Mirzayar oglu, Khurshudov Mirzabil Mirzayar oglu and Mirhazarov Mirghani Mirjafar oglu.

These persons are accused of Article 228.2.1(Illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation and carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies and explosives on preliminary arrangement by group of persons), Article 206.3.2 (smuggling narcotics by a group of persons in preliminary agreement), Article 234.4.1 (illegal purchase, possession and sale of drugs by a group of people in agreement or by an organized group) and Article 234.4.3 (illegal purchase, possession and sale of a large amount of drugs) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.

The State Border Service arrested the accused on Jan. 25 in the Bilasuvar Region and seized 10 kilograms of hashish, 2 kilograms and 901 grams of heroin and a pistol branded "TT".

The hearings on the case are scheduled for Oct. 2.
