Azerbaijani education ministry to solve problem of overcrowding in kindergartens

The short-term training groups will enhance the interest of involving children in preschool institutions in Azerbaijan, and a partial solution to the problem of overcrowding in these institutions, Education Ministry's Preschool Education Sector Director Narmina Alnagiyeva told Trend.

Children in short-term training groups will participate in various excursions for a few hours a day, they will be preparing for school. The pilot project for these groups will be implemented in Baku and the five metropolitan settlements.

"The ministry will launch the project in September 2010 t. If the results of the monitoring project will be satisfactory, it will be distributed throughout the country," Alnagiyeva said.

She said that overcrowding is observed in kindergartens due to the fact that many parents want to identify school after their children attend preschool education.

Regarding the high cost of education for children in private kindergartens, Alnagiyeva said that the ministry can not control the financial aspects of activities. It checks only method of teaching and education in these institutions.

About 1,635 kindergartens, of which 1,571 are state, operate in Azerbaijan. Number of the children receiving education in all these institutions is 108,000.
