Azerbaijan holds campaign (PHOTO)

A global campaign for the sake of the Millennium Development Goals was held under the slogan 'Stand Up-Take Action' in Azerbaijan this year. The public association "Ireli" and Baku office of UN DPİ conducted a joint event within the campaign, Ireli said.

The Millennium Development Goals include eight global goals, stated in the Millennium Declaration and signed by world leaders in 2000. Its program goals include reducing poverty and malnutrition, improving the quality of education in primary and secondary schools, promoting gender equality and empowering women, reducing child mortality, improving maternal health, combating HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, ensuring environmental sustainability, and developing global partnerships.

Over 150 students from various universities of the country attended the event.

They got the extensive information about the Millennium Development Goals.

The campaign "Stand Up and Take Action" began in October 2002.
