Director of Alexandria Library visiting Baku

The director of the one of the oldest world libraries - Alexandria library, Ismayil Serageldin arrived Friday in Baku for the consideration of cooperation perspectives with the Azerbaijani counterpart.
The visit is promoted with the support of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and Information technologies, YES Azerbaijan organization and also the Egyptian embassy.
During the visit the chief of Alexandria library is to attend Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, the secondary school with a bias for Arabic language named after Suzanne Mubarek and located in Absheron region, the State Committee on family, women and children problems.
Dr. Serageldin is to participate also at Baku Tell exhibition organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information technologies and to present CULTURAMA project.
The visit's schedule also includes the travel to the Azerbaijani second biggest city - Gandja where the eminent guest is to attend the Agricultural Academy and to meet the governance of the institution.
During the visit the director of Alexandria library, Egyptian president's counselor on science and education issues Ismayil Serageldin is to meet the state officials and to discuss the issue of the deepening of cooperation in science and education spheres.
The ancient library of Egyptian Alexandria city was erected more than 2500 years ago. It was considered the one of the main scientific centers at own time. Particularly, Archimed and Euclid worked at this library.
The Egyptian government granted the specific status to the library: its directors are subordinated personally to the state president.
According to the rating of the world universities for 2010 Alexandria University is on 147-th place and it is considered one of the prestigious universities not only in Egypt but also throughout the Middle East.
