Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 26 / Trend M. Aliyev /
The Azerbaijani office of BBC will cease radio broadcasting soon, the Azerbaijani Office of BBC in London told Trend.
It will fully operate on-line via Internet.
The staff will be reduced in other language services of BBC. In total, roughly 291 positions will be reduced. The corporation has recently announced about closing of five language services. The services broadcasting in Macedonian, Albanian, Serbian, as well as English broadcasting in the Caribbean countries and Portuguese broadcasting in Africa will cease their activity. Roughly 70 staff reduction will fall to these five departments. Broadcasting in Ukrainian, Turkish, Vietnamese and Chinese will be also ceased.
Presumably, the corporation will reduce up to 650 positions of 2.400.
