MP: Azerbaijani President's decree to have great impact on preventing negative phenomena in traffic police

The Azerbaijani President's decree on strengthening the social protection of traffic police officers and some measures to regulate traffic will have a huge impact on improving the social state of traffic police and prevent negative phenomena in this area, MP Zahid Oruj told Trend.

"This decree shows the attitude towards the issue from the standpoint of public interest and reforms. Most European countries use this experience. Azerbaijan uses the advanced world experience in solving various problems," he said.

He said that while preventing administrative violations, traffic police and drivers had certain collusion. He said that while using the card system, direct communication between the driver and the traffic police will be prevented.

"Roughly 25 percent of the fines paid by physical and legal entities will be directed at increasing the monthly payments to traffic police officers. It will improve their social status," he said.
He said that despite the tracking system in this area, there are still problems in the relations between traffic police and drivers. Such an action by the president will serve to strengthen confidence in the traffic police.

"This decree will create conditions for the traffic police to appear in a new status before the public," he said.

On Monday, President Aliyev signed a decree on certain measures relating to strengthening the social protection of traffic police officers of the Interior Ministry.

The decree includes such measures as payment of fines for administrative offenses related to traffic only through the bank and plastic cards.
