Some forces in Azerbaijan are not able to appreciate the state's care and attention for religion, Caucasian Muslims Office head, Sheikh-ul-islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh said during his speech at an event dedicated to Prophet Muhammad's birthday.

"There are some forces that are unable to assess the state's care for religion. They cannot do it because there is no faith in their hearts. These forces are both inside Azerbaijan and beyond it," Pashazadeh said.

Sheikh-ul-islam spoke about Prophet Muhammad's personality and his role in the spread of the Islamic religion.

Touching upon the problems that Muslims faced during the Soviet period, Pashazadeh spoke about the conditions and opportunities that were created for Muslims after gaining independence.

According to him, if only 18 mosques operated in Azerbaijan at that time, today that number exceeds 1,800.

Highly assessing the National Leader Heydar Aliyev's visit to the "Teze Pir" mosque after gaining independence by Azerbaijan and congratulations to the Muslim on the Prophet's birthday, Sheikh noted that President Ilham Aliyev continues to pay special attention to religion.

Manifestation of public care is the President's participation at the opening of mosques in the country.

The event was attended by members of the Caucasian Muslims Office Gazi Council, students of the Islamic University and religious figures.
