In 2010, roughly 925 deaths and 2,871 injuries have resulted from traffic accidents in Azerbaijan, the Interior Ministry's Main Traffic Police Department told Trend.
Some 1,119 traffic accidents which were recorded in the Republic in 2010 were accounted for by Baku alone, where traffic accidents killed 342 and injured 1,115 people, Baku State Traffic Police Department spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Vagif Asadov told Trend
Pedestrian collisions reached 39.8 percent of traffic accidents (1,084), as a result of which 333 people died and 837 were injured.
Some 697 traffic accidents were recorded in the first quarter of 2011, resulting in 204 deaths and 730 injuries.
Half of the Republic's recorded traffic accidents occurred in Baku.
