The Ministry of Emergency Situations has inspected the equipment of the rescue service in Azerbaijan in connection with the opening beach season.
The service guarantees citizens' safety in the water, the head of the rescue service Elsever Hasanov said.
"New equipment has recently been bought," Hasanov said, "the staff was trained, the work was brought in accordance with international standards."
Hasanov said that after the Ministry of Emergency Situations was established, about 2,306 citizens were saved in the water.
"The service operates all year round,'' Hasanov added.
Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Fuad Taghizade said that state rescue services operate at about 42 sites throughout the republic. "During last year's beach season, rescuers saved more than 600 people," Taghizade said.
