Azerbaijan has prepared proposals to amend legislation to complicate divorce proceedings.
The Lawyers Committee for Human Rights has prepared a package of amendments and changes to the legislation on the project for monitoring women's rights in courts.
The package includes the creation of Family Recovery Center and the
state alimony fund, raising the age of marriage, tightening of the divorce proceedings and using of various forms of punishment for parents who do not voluntarily pay alimony, etc.
Some 139 trials, in which one side stood a woman, were monitored in Baku under the project.
There were conducted surveys, interviews with lawyers engaged in advocacy and acting as the representative in judicial proceedings and protecting the rights of women on the
theoretical and practical problems, studied the family law in various countries.
