The main reason for juvenile crime in Azerbaijan is the lack of control and supervision in the family and educational institutions, the Chief of the Department for Organization of Prophylactic Works Amongst Youth, at the Interior Ministry, Kamal Imamverdiyev told Trend.
"Most children, committing crimes in the country, are the children who are out of control of the family and school," he said. "Families should take care of children and pay attention to them."
The situation relating to juvenile crime in Azerbaijan is stable.
"About 618 crimes committed by children were registered in the country in 2005," he said. "Last year the figure was 481."
The figure was 174 in the first half of the year. The figure was 189 during the corresponding period this year.
The number of children, involved in criminal activities, hits 15.
The number of crimes committed by children or with their participation decreased by 19 up to 69 in Baku.
