Matchday 2 of the group stage of UEFA Champions League ended.

Real Madrid beat former champions Ajax Amsterdam 3-0, while Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich secured a 2-0 win against Manchester City to secure their tenth official game in a row without conceding a goal.

United seemed well on course for a convincing victory after Danny Welbeck scored twice in the space of a minute early on.

Fabian Frei and Alexander Frei turned matters around for the Swiss visitors in the 57th and 60th minute.

United then pushed everything forward and Ashley Young gave them a last-minute equalizer. 3-3 is final score.

Romanians Otelul Galati lost their second game in a row as they were beaten 1-0 at home by Benfica, who like Basel, have four points and lead Group C.

In Group D Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka gave Real a two-goal half-time lead and Karim Benzema added a second just four minutes later to give the home side their second victory in as many games.

The other group game saw Olympique Lyon beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 through goals by Bafetimbi Gomis and Bakary Kone.

The two-goal hero paid a tribute to City. "They played very well at the beginning and we were possibly a bit nervous. I took a while to get into the game.

Napoli beat Villarreal by the same score to move to four points in the group - two behind Bayern.

In Group B Trabzonspor drew 1-1 at home with Olympique Lyon and former winners Inter Milan won an early match 3-2 at CSKA Moscow.
