Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct 13 /Trend R.Hafizoglu/

Troops of Lebanese Hezbollah fight in Syria, head of the opposition military council of Aleppo Colonel Al-Akkad said on Saturday, the Turkish online newspaper Time Turk reported.

According to Al-Akkad, troops of Hezbollah are fighting in such cities as Aleppo and Homs.

Earlier, former Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri also said that Hezbollah sends fighters and weapons to the Syrian regime. He noted that the militants of Hezbollah participate in military operations against the opposition Syrian army, and it is done at the order of President Bashar al-Assad, who asked Hezbollah to sent fighters to Syria.

Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for a year and half.

According to UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria is nearing 20,000.
More than 230,000 have become refugees with around three million in need of humanitarian assistance. The Syrian authorities say they oppose the well-armed militants.
