Minister: Number of Azerbaijani students in Italy has to be increased

Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct. 31/Trend I.Isabalayeva /

The number of Azerbaijani students studying at Italian universities within the State programme on education of Azerbaijani youth abroad is not satisfactory, Azerbaijani Minister of Education Misir Mardanov stated at the conference on 'Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy in the field of education: current situation and prospects'.

According to him, despite the fact that 24 Italian universities are involved in the programme, only four Azerbaijani students are currently studying in the country. The minister noted that a number of Azerbaijani universities collaborate with Italian universities. These relations are mainly established in the framework of the EU Tempus programme.

He said that while mutual Azerbaijani-Italian trade turnout is increasing, relations between the two countries in the field of education are at a low level and they should be promoted not only at the level of higher education, but in all directions.
