Azerbaijan's Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov met on Monday with the new Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs of Georgia Levan Kipiani, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, Rahimov reported on work undertaken by the state on the development of sports and youth policy in the country, according to a report released by the press service of the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan on Monday.

Rahimov noted the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the sphere of sports as well as in the field of youth policy.

It was noted at the meeting that from this point of view, the restoration of a tradition of organizing activities in the border areas with the participation of young people would be very useful.

The Minister of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan told the guests about the musical competition among the students "Univision". He mentioned the contest will receive international status, adding that to date, representatives of 30-40 countries have already expressed their willingness to take part in the contest.

The material and technical base in Azerbaijan is expanding from year to year: some 36 Olympic sports complexes have been commissioned in the country and this process is ongoing, Rahimov said.

In turn, the Georgian minister expressed his gratitude for warm welcome and hospitality, noted the importance of cooperation with Azerbaijan for Georgia, adding that joint training in many sports and co-hosting of competitions may also be very important.

Recall that the main purpose of the visit of the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia to Azerbaijan is discussion of the current state of bilateral relations in the field of implementation of the existing agreements on cooperation in the field of youth and sports as well as their prospects for expansion and consolidation.
