The official opening ceremony of personal exhibition of Bernard Buffet will be held at Heydar Aliyev Center on September 26.

Some 43 works of artist will be demonstrated at first exhibition in Baku, Heydar Aliyev Center said Sept. 23.

Buffet was born in Paris on June 10, 1928. He was famous for his melancholy and monochrome works. He was the winner of orders titled "Honorary Legion" and "Art and Literature". Bernard Buffet Museum was established in Japan in 1973. The famous artist was suffering from Parkinson's disease and committed suicide at the age of 71.

The catalog covering reproduction of Bernard Buffet works was published on the eve of the opening ceremony of the exhibition. The author of the foreword in the catalog is Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

Aliyeva expressed her pleasure of bringing the works of Bernard Buffet to Baku and exhibiting at Heydar Aliyev Center.

"I discovered Bernard Buffet and his works a few years ago," Leyla Aliyeva said. "I fell in love with his portraits at that time. In my mind, the works of Buffet are rich with emotions and express his deep feelings. The darkest works of Buffet give positive energy."

The exhibition at Heydar Aliyev Center will last until January 15, 2015.
