The prosecutor has demanded to sentence Jahangir Hajiyev, former head of Azerbaijan’s International Bank, to 17 years in prison.

The prosecutor demanded to sentence other participants of the process - A. Sultanov, I. Abdullayev, M. Jahangirov, K. Orujov to 8 years, I. Huseynov, Y. Alakbarov to 11 years and A. Javadov to 12 years and 11 months of imprisonment.

The representative of Azerbaijan’s International Bank required fully compensating the damage in Baku.

Lawyers of the accused asked for time to prepare the speech. The process will continue on Oct. 2.

Jahangir Hajiyev was arrested Dec. 5, 2015 in accordance with the decision of the Baku City Narimanov District Court. His arrest term has been extended three times.

Hajiyev is charged under various articles of the Criminal Code, including misappropriation, abuse of office, causing huge damage by fraud, embezzlement through the abuse of office, and bribing.
