A new national hotel star classification system will be applied in Azerbaijan, Trend reports citing Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Tourism Agency Fuad Nagiyev as saying at the first general assembly of the Azerbaijan Hotel Association.
He also mentioned the problem of seasonality in hotels, and the relevant work to eliminate it is being carried out.
He added that measures are also being taken to stimulate the work related to small hotels in Baku and the districts.
“Azerbaijan has carried out work for the development of the tourism sector, but there are issues that are important to solve,” Nagiyev said. “The hotel sphere holds the main place in the tourism industry, and servicing is the most important factor.”
He added that the work related to training of personnel continues. Also one of the important issues is to bring the hotel industry in line with European standards, he said.
