Great leader Heydar Aliyev’s merits to Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis are invaluable, Hadi Rajabli, chairman of the Azerbaijani parliamentary committee on labor and social policy, told Trend on Dec. 12.
“During the most difficult period for Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev took very successful steps for statehood,” he added.
Rajabli stressed that Heydar Aliyev’s historical merits in creating a model of statehood development in Azerbaijan, which became exemplary for all mankind, is a rich heritage recognized in the world.
He added that Heydar Aliyev’s historic mission of creation and development of the country began in 1969.
"After Heydar Aliyev came to power, in a short period of time Azerbaijan became a republic with the modern economic potential in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR),” he said.
“Thanks to the large-scale work launched under the leadership of Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan held its worthy place among the countries of USSR," Rajabli added.
He stressed that the return of Heydar Aliyev to power at the insistent request of people was the main factor in maintaining and strengthening of Azerbaijan’s independence.
“Returning to power, Heydar Aliyev created Azerbaijan’s statehood,” Rajabli said. "Thanks to the work of the great leader in all spheres of Azerbaijan, fundamental reforms were carried out. The country overcame the crisis and was developing. The social position of people was improving.”
“National leader Heydar Aliyev’s achievements in the field of social protection can be considered in three aspects,” he added.
"First, Heydar Aliyev returned to power during the period when there was already a problem with refugees and internally displaced people, during a period of powerlessness when the country's economy was paralyzed,” Rajabli said. “Secondly, it was a populist period of social policy, which stool far from market economy. Thirdly, there was a necessity to form a new social policy of an independent country, propose initiatives and carry out reforms.”
“The great leader took very successful steps in all three directions,” he added. “These were the most successful steps taken in the history of statehood and during the difficult period for Azerbaijan. The issue of accommodating refugees and internally displaced people was resolved. The international humanitarian organizations were involved in Azerbaijan. The laws were passed. The social rights were enshrined in the Constitution. The state programs were outlined. The pension and other reforms were carried out. Thus, a modern system of social protection was created in Azerbaijan."
Rajabli stressed that national leader Heydar Aliyev determined the further development of Azerbaijan.
"The development of the country, the improvement of the people's well-being is the result of great leader’s wise policy,” he said. “Today, Azerbaijan is steadily advancing along the path created by Heydar Aliyev. Thanks to the policy of President Ilham Aliyev, a worthy successor and follower of Heydar Aliyev’s political school, Azerbaijan’s sustainable dynamic development was ensured.”
