BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 2. The FIG Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus World Cup in Baku is very exciting, Hajar Abdullayeva, spectator of the competitions, told Trend.

“I’m visiting the National Gymnastics Arena for the first time and I was delighted with the hall. The atmosphere here is amazing. The audience actively supports all the athletes. I hope this helps them cope with the excitement,” Abdullayeva said. “Of course, we are rooting for our gymnasts Ivan Tikhonov and Nikita Simonov, and wish them to achieve high results.”

According to the spectator, of all the exercises in artistic gymnastics, she most liked the program that the athletes performed on the balance beam.

“I also liked combinations, which gymnasts performed on the crossbar. Performing combinations on these apparatuses requires great preparation, strength and skill from gymnasts,” she added.

FIG Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus World Cup is being held from March 31 through April 3 in the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku. Some 145 gymnasts from 34 countries are competing.

There were qualifications on the first two days of events, while finals will take place on the next two days. In the tournament, the traditional “AGF Trophy” will be presented to the gymnasts who will receive the highest score.

After three competitions of the World Cup held in different countries in 2022, the World Cup in Baku is considered to be the final stage. The three best results out of four shown in the four competitions will define the holders of the FIG Cup in individual events.
