Turkey’s Ministry of Health hosts meeting with delegation led by Azerbaijani Health Minister

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 17. Turkey’s Ministry of Health hosted the meeting with a delegation led by Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev, Trend reports citing the Azerbaijani Ministry of Health.

The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Turkey Rashad Mammadov.

The sides exchanged views on the successful development of multilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, cooperation in the field of healthcare, as well as on the implementation of joint projects.

Turkish Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca noted that bilateral friendly relations between the two countries are successfully developing in all areas.

“Azerbaijan-Turkey relations built on historical and national values are indicators of the unity and solidarity between these countries,” he stated.

The participation of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in the opening ceremony of the Rize-Artvin Airport will contribute to further development and strengthening of ties between the two countries.

The Turkish minister stressed that Azerbaijan and Turkey rank among the countries that have been successful in the fight against the new COVID-19 strain.

At the end of his speech, Fahrettin Koca invited his Azerbaijani colleague to the Turkish Medicine World Congress to be held in Istanbul in October 2022.

Thanking for the warm welcome, Musayev outlined the close relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan.

“Our peoples are united by deep historical roots, spiritual and cultural values. Turkey and Azerbaijan supported each other in the most difficult periods of their history,” the minister said.

In recent years, important decisions have been made on the interaction in the field of medicine, as well as the exchange of modern methodological and scientific-practical information in the field of continuing professional education of medical specialists. Currently, the Azerbaijan Medical University is actively cooperating with around 20 prestigious universities of Turkey. Furthermore, mutual visits of doctors are organized to exchange experience and improve qualifications, Musayev stated.

The digitalization of the healthcare system is one of the main priorities of the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan.

Speaking of the COVID-19 pandemic, the minister underscored intense cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey.

Noting that on April 10, 2020, at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Organization of Turkic States Ilham Aliyev, an Extraordinary Summit of the Turkic Council was held via video conference, Musayev talked about the establishment of the Health Scientific Group of the Turkic Council.

At the end of his speech, the minister emphasized that the Coordination Center for Organ Procurement and Transplantation would also be established in Azerbaijan in the near future.

Then Fahrettin Koca and Teymur Musayev signed the "Roadmap on cooperation between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the period 2022-2023".

The ministers underscored the importance of the signed document in the development of the health sector both in Turkey and Azerbaijan.
