BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 1. Azerbaijan Railways has updated tactile surfaces to facilitate movement for passengers with visual impairments, head of the communications department of Azerbaijan Railways Aybeniz Ismayilova said during a media tour organized at the Baku Railway Station in preparation for COP29, Trend reports.
Ismayilova noted that Azerbaijan Railways has published its first sustainability report for public transport in the country for 2023, reflecting its commitment to environmental protection.
"Azerbaijan Railways has embraced sustainability as a core value. We take full responsibility for protecting the environment and continue to work in this direction.
There are ongoing efforts to implement inclusive measures in transportation, highlighting significant work done to improve accessibility for passengers with visual impairments ahead of COP29. This includes the updates to tactile flooring and unplanned technical inspections of elevators and escalators.
We approach this work responsibly, aiming to provide all services to our passengers, particularly in building an inclusive society," she added.
