Azerbaijani State Committee on Work with Diaspora tallies its activity for 9M2024

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 1. The activities of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan over the past nine months demonstrate a continued expansion and intensification of the organization's connections with diaspora organizations and individual members of Azerbaijani communities abroad, as well as with the public in the country, Trend reports via the committee.

The committee employed modern forms and methods to further increase the accessibility of information for the Azerbaijani diaspora.

During the reporting period, members of diaspora organizations and individual communities sent 416 congratulatory messages, appeals, and letters of thanks to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Additionally, members of Azerbaijani communities abroad and diaspora organizations sent 107 appeals and statements on various issues to international organizations.

During overseas trips, the leadership and staff of the committee held 218 meetings with Azerbaijanis living abroad and 163 meetings with officials.

A total of 4,827 people participated in mass meetings with compatriots abroad during this period.

During the visit of the diaspora members to Azerbaijan, the committee hosted a meeting with 933 compatriots.

The committee staff has established a more flexible communication system to improve communication with Azerbaijanis living abroad and representatives of nations friendly to Azerbaijan. They conducted discussions and correspondence with 112,349 people via email, WhatsApp, SMS, and phone.

Furthermore, the committee's official email address ([email protected]) received 2,434 inquiries, of which 475 were individual citizen requests. Each inquiry was addressed.

In the first nine months of 2024, the total number of documents processed by the committee amounted to 14,644, and there were 1,036 calls from citizens. The committee provided corresponding responses to these calls.

The committee has continued to improve cooperation with higher education institutions, with the number of university students completing internships at the committee tripling compared to previous years.

From January through September 2024, 71 students gained valuable experience at the committee.

The committee's communication policy has shown progress and new qualitative indicators.

The committee prepared 1,011 press releases about its activities and the Azerbaijani diaspora during this time.

Among these, 262 were political, 187 were cultural, and the remaining 562 were educational. The committee published this information on its website, 100 news sites, all local TV channels, cable channels, and dozens of YouTube channels.

During this period, the committee published 729 articles in foreign media outlets.

Throughout the first nine months of this year, Azerbaijan's ITV (Public Television) channel aired two episodes per month of the program "Homeland is Not Far," a joint project of the ITV channel and the committee's Diaspor TV channel on YouTube.

Filming took place in the US, Kazakhstan, Italy, Turkey, and Germany, as well as in Azerbaijan, during visits by diaspora representatives.

Diaspor FM radio regularly highlighted the committee's activities and the experiences of Azerbaijanis living abroad, hosting dozens of guests from both Azerbaijan and abroad.

In line with its communication strategy, the number of appearances by the committee's leadership, staff, and diaspora representatives on local television and radio exceeded 500.

Analytical articles about the Committee's activities and Azerbaijani communities abroad were published in Azeri-Observer magazine, the Azerbaijan-Türkiye magazine, and various media outlets in the country.

The committee has successfully continued major projects, such as summer and winter camps for diaspora youth, sister schools in Karabakh, leadership development, a diaspora youth network, the 1+1 youth program, an electronic academy, brainstorming sessions, diaspora volunteers, forums for youth from Turkic-speaking countries, Azerbaijani scholars, doctors, and engineers living abroad, forums for Azerbaijani students studying abroad, trips for the diaspora to Karabakh, and other large-scale projects.

Supported by the committee, numerous scientific conferences dedicated to the history and contemporary development of Azerbaijan have been organized in prestigious higher education institutions worldwide, featuring participation from diaspora scholars and international experts.

These conferences significantly contributed to the information war and played a vital role in countering misinformation related to Azerbaijan. Thousands of compatriots and representatives of friendly nations participated in these initiatives.

The increased number of mass events organized by the committee, as well as specialized forums, has positively impacted the engagement with the committee's social media accounts.

The committee implements its diaspora policy based on the directives and recommendations of President Ilham Aliyev, continuously improving its activities to expand connections with the diaspora, ensure access to information, and create a unified network of Azerbaijanis worldwide.
