Rudold Ivanov told his colleagues about his new book Defense of Bayazet: the truth and the lie, which he dedicated to the heroic deeds of the Azerbaijani generals during the defense of the Bayazet fortress during the Russian - Turkish war of 1877-1878.

Last year the Russian TV showed the TV film Bayazet dedicated to the tragic episode of the Russian Turkish war of 1877-1878, shot by the novel of Valentin Pikul. The film authors were far from the historical realities. The characters of the Bayazet fortress defenders of the Moslem origin were mostly distorted. Soon after the release of the film a large article in the Russian Nezavisimaya gazeta by Rudolf Ivanov appeared under the title В"Defense of Bayazet: the truth and the fiction, in which he depicted the genuine characters of the heroes and defenders of the fortress, among which was the colonel Ismail khan Nakhichevanski.

Contrary to the film authors version, Ivanov characterizes the colonel Nakhichevanski as courageous and the most honest officer, thanks to the courage and selflessness of which surrender of the fortress was prevented. According to the researches by Ivanov, Ismail khan was honored the highest awards of the Russian Empire. Ivanov, having continued his studies wrote a book Defense of Bayazet: the truth and the lie, in which he told on the heroic deeds and heroism of the Azerbaijanis, created remarkable characters of Kelbeli-khan and Ismail-khan Nakhchevanski.
