Each person without citizenship that resides over one year in Azerbaijan may be granted citizenship, Trend reports with reference to passport registration bureau with Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan.

In general, number of persons without citizenship that reside in Azerbaijan has reduced significantly compared to pervious years. If several years ago persons without citizenship in Azerbaijan totaled approximately 8 thousand, their number fell to 1,787 to date.

Azeri legislation says each person without citizenship that resides over one year in Azerbaijan may be granted Azeri citizenship upon addressing the relevant governmental bodies.

The bureau officials said in the closest future, after revising and amending the law В"Exit and entrance to the country and passportsВ", Azeri citizens will have no problems coming back home in case they lost their passport outside the country or damaged it as they will be provided with return document that grants the right to enter the republic.
