During Court Session of Former Senior Official of Azeri Interior Ministry Advocates Appealed to Limit Publication of Court Process in Press

On October 16, during the court session on the criminal cases of the former senior official of the Head Investigation Department of the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry, Haji Mammadov and the criminal group headed by him, the prosecutors made an appeal to limit the publication of the court process in the press. The court session on the cases of Mammadov and his group comprising of 25 persons, is held in the Court of Heinous Crimes of Azerbaijan under the Chair of Judge Ali Seyfaliyev, Trend reports.

The prosecutors, Abdulla Yusifov and Bashir Jafarov, claimed that the publication of the material of the court sessions in form of shorthand in the newspapers prevents the session. Yusifov stressed that the journalists publish the evidence of the accused persons as being. And it creates conditions for witnesses to work out their evidences on base of the information disseminated in the press, he said.

The accused persons and advocates assessed the appeal of the prosecutors as a step limiting the activities of the journalists and breaking the law.

By holding a meeting, the court decided to ensure the appeal of the prosecutors and that journalists should not pay attention the shorthand. The journalists writing telegrams during the court sessions will not be missed to the court hall in the future.
