Baku to Host an International Anti Dope Conference

An International Conference for Anti Dope is expected to be held in the very beginning of March, 2007. Ragif Abbasov, the Chief o the Press-Service of the Azerbaijan Youth and Sports Ministry, informed Trend that the forthcoming conference will be held within Azerbaijan initiative to join the International Anti Dope Convention.

Azerbaijan has intensions to be among the first 50 countries to sign the Convention. It is one of the key international requirements to host large-scale sports events, said Mr. Abbasov. Up to date, the Convention has already been signed by 47 UNESCO member-states out o the total 90.

A mini-exhibition is expected to be organized within the forthcoming arrangement. Different kinds of equipment acquired for the rehabilitation of sportspersons after large-scale tournaments and injures received, will be showed.

The list of prohibited medicines and chemicals, which are not to be consumed by sportspersons during their rehabilitation process, will be announced during the conference. Representatives of different international organizations, Ministries, offices and agencies will be invited to take part in the forthcoming event.
