Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr K. Zarbaliyeva / The League for Human Rights Protection have been monitoring the labour rights in Azerbaijan. The Chairman of the League, Sahib Mammadov, said that the results of the monitoring have been prepared which revealed that 80% of the institutions and organizations in Azerbaijan do not observe the Labour Legislation. "The institutions who observe the Legislation are those financed by the State budget, either entirely or partially," Mammadov noted.

In most cases violation of the Labour Legislation is caused either through institutions and organizations neglecting to provide employees with labour contracts or by violating the terms of the contract. A number of proposals, based on the results of the monitoring, will be submitted to the Government for consideration. "We suggest that the Labour legislation should be amended or reconsidered. New items should be introduced. Management of labour relations within NGO, media and humanitarian organizations remains open. Therefore changes are necessary," Mammadov urged.
