Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. Z.Safarov / Shahriyar Mammadyarov, the Azerbaijani grand master took third place at the International chess tournament M-Tel Masters, in Sofia.
Mammadyarov had to beat Livia-Diter Nisipan from Romania to have a chance of victory.
The game between Mammadyarov, twice champion, was defeated twice during the game, by the Euro-2005 champion who gained five points and the game ended in a draw.
Indian Krishnan Sakishiran, American Gata Kamsk as well as L Nisipyan, who had the same points remained behind the champion Veselin Topalov.
The host of the competition Topalov, became champion of the prestigious competition for the third time.
