Azerbaijani State Committee Registers 4,449 Missing and 1,392 Released Captives and Hostages

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / The State Commission reported on 23 May that seventy people registered as missing, were excluded from the list of the State Commission on Captives, Hostages and Missing Persons. Thirty-four of them are alive, and thirty-six were killed at war.

Five people are missing and their names were included in the corresponding list.

Some 4,449 people had been registered as missing and 1,392 people as released captives and hostages in the State Commission by 1 April, 2007.

State and International organizations received requests to define the information of the commission and the search of eighty-seven people during 2007.

The Center of Public relationships of the Ministry of National Security has considered the list to be fifty-nine sacrifices in the Khojaly genocide.

According to the inquiry of the investigative Military Prosecutor office of the Azerbaijan Republic, received information about missing people was excluded from the list of those missing and killed in captivity.

Responses to the inquiry of 121 people that were registered as missing people by the State commission were analyzed.
