Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynli / Azerbaijani Government is holding discussions on global warming, shortages in water, and the threat of drought, Azerbaijani Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources, Huseyngulu Baghyrov, reported on 13 June.
According to Baghyrov, Azerbaijani territories are profoundly polluted. The Minister considers it necessary to develop a special strategy on resolving the aforementioned problems.
As one of the reasons for water shortages, Baghyrov noted, that in summer months, water in the occupied Azerbaijani territories' water reservoirs is not discharged.
Notably, Azerbaijan occupies the last place among Caucasian countries for volume of water resources.
