Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend Z.Safarov / The Azerbaijani junior team on group exercises were fourth at the 23rd European 2007 Rhythmic Championships held at the Heydar Aliyev Sports and Concert Complex of Baku.
The 'owners' of the carpet set up their performances first scoring 24,500 points in exercises with five pairs of clips. The local gymnasts held third place until their rival from Belarus appeared on the carpet. As a result the Azerbaijani gymnasts dropped to fourth place. Nevertheless, they left behind Ukraine, Spain, Israel and Hungary in the final round.
Gold medals were won by gymnasts from Russia, followed by the Bulgarians. The last in the trio were graces from Belarus, who pushed the host team out in the final round.
