Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. К.Zarbaliyeva / The Independent Azerbaijani University's (IAU) students brought a lawsuit against the Azerbaijani Ministry of Education to compensate for moral damage.

The students set up claims against the Ministry during the trial process under the chairmanship of Judge Mirza Tagizadeh, in the Azerbaijani Appeal Court, to restore their rights for education and for each student to be paid AZN 50,000 compensation for moral and material damage.

Intigam Aliyev, the students' representative, stated that due to changes made in the lawsuit, students must submit to Court their demands in writing. For this reason, the case was postponed to 23 July.

The lawsuit involving 250 IAU's students against the Ministry to restore their rights for education was not accepted by the Binagadi District Court of Baku.

After the Ministry's decision to suspend the Independent Azerbaijan University from functioning, a group of students were transferred to other Azerbaijani Universities to continue their education. The educational rights of 250 students have not been restored.
