Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynli / The new hunting season of 2007-2008 has begun in Azerbaijan. A decision was taken at a meeting of the Scientific-Coordinating Hunting Council at the Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry.
According to data provided by the Ecology Ministry on 9 July, the terms and norms of hunting wild animals and schedule of distribution of hunting tickets has been determined. Hunting of mammals has been permitted. A permanent ban on the hunting birds was imposed by ministerial order in October 2005.
As a result of the attention paid to mammals in 2006, there has been an increase in numbers. Compared to 2005, the limit for hunting the Caucasian goat (297), wild boar (1,479), and hares has not changed this year (8,250).
