Jim Carrey's Carol roles

(femalefirst.co.uk) - Jim Carrey is set to take on four roles in a remake of 'A Christmas Carol'. The comic actor will star as Ebenezer Scrooge and the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future in the Disney version of Charles Dickens' much-loved Victorian tale.

'Forrest Gump' director Robert Zemeckis, who won the Best Director Oscar for the 1994 film, will helm the movie.

The filmmaker has also penned the script, which he wrote specifically for Carrey.

The movie will blend live action with 3D digital animation and a computer graphic style called 'performance capture' - used by Zemeckis in his 2004 Christmas movie 'The Polar Express' and the upcoming 'Beowulf'.

'A Christmas Carol' tells the tale of miser Ebenezer Scrooge who devotes his life to making money. Scrooge hates the idea of family, friendship and Christmas - until three ghosts visit him on Christmas Eve and force him to change his ways.

The film's release date is yet to be confirmed. This isn't Carrey's first role as a Christmas killjoy. He also played the title role in children's fantasy 'The Grinch', based on the children's book by Dr. Seuss, 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas'.
