Sentence Against Policemen Charged with Death of Karabakh War Veteran Read

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. К.Zarbaliyeva / The court trial including four policemen of Mingachevir City Police Department, charged with death of Rasim Alishov, the veteran of Karabakh War, was completed.

The Grave Court reported that Ilgar Abbasov, the former chief of Mingachevir Criminal Investigation Department, and Ramiz Murzugov, the policeman of the Department, were sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment. The other defendants, Anar Hasanov and Elchin Musayev were sentenced to three years of imprisonment.

Alishhov was beaten in Police Department in 25 July. A criminal case had been filed over the fact.

Abbasov and Musayev were relieved of their positions by the decree of the Interior Ministry.

Abbasov was charged with contravening Article 126.1 (health damage) and 309 (abuse of power). Murguzov, Musayev and Hasanov were charged with contravening Article 309 (abuse of power) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.
