BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 17

By Sadraddin Aghjayev – Trend:

Azerbaijan's Nar mobile operator has launched its network in the territories liberated from Armenian occupation, Nar (Azerfon LLC) CEO Gunnar Pahnke told Trend.

According to Pahnke, base stations with 2G, 3G and 4G technologies have already been installed in Khojavand and Jabrayil, as well as in Shusha, including the Jidir Plain.

“We have 8,760 base stations with 2G, 3G and 4G technologies, providing 88.8 percent of the geographical coverage and coverage of 99.9 percent of the population. More than 1.1 million subscribers use our 4G services. We are proud of this excellent result and are the largest operator in the country by this indicator,” said the general director.

He also said Nar intends to deploy additional base stations in other districts of Azerbaijan to provide the liberated territories with a modern mobile network.

“With regard to 5G technology, first of all, it is very important to note that our 4G network is already ready for the transition to the next level,” he added.

“Upgrading to 5G won't take a lot of effort, and we'll do it on demand. We also pay attention to small and medium-sized businesses. These customers are currently enjoying high data rates that are perfectly tailored to their needs. As soon as 5G technology becomes relevant, we will, of course, implement it, especially in areas where there will be an urgent need for it, and these are mainly business customers. 5G is just a matter of timing,” the CEO said.
