Azerbaijan implementing number of large road projects in liberated territories

To date, work is underway in Karabakh on the implementation of 16 large-scale road projects, the head of the press service of the State Agency for Azerbaijan Automobile Roads Anar Najafli told Trend.

According to Najafli, the total length of roads under construction exceeds one thousand kilometers. He also noted that this year the Victory Road was built and put into operation, which is one of the major road projects.

"The Victory Road has a length of 101 kilometers, and four bridges, underground pedestrian crossings, and other structures have been built on it," he said.

He also said that the Tartar-Sugovushan-Chayly highway with a length of 28 kilometers was built.

"Eight tunnels with a total length of about 7.7 kilometers are under construction on the Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha road. Work is also underway on the construction of tunnels, bridges, viaducts, and other infrastructure facilities. Asphalting has already begun on some sections of the road. For example, the asphalting of the Shukurbayli-Jabrayil-Hadrut, Khudafarin-Gubadli-Lachin roads, the Horadiz-Aghband highway and a number of others has begun. These are large projects, and their implementation will continue next year," he said.

Over the past 18 years, over 19,000 kilometers of roads have been built and repaired in Azerbaijan, 460 new bridges have been built, 95 have been repaired. In addition, over 2,000 kilometers of roads, 83 road junctions and tunnels, 99 underground and overground pedestrian crossings were built in Baku during this period.
