Pomegranate Producers and Exporters Association of Azerbaijan (PPEAA) included Qatar to export destinations in 2021, Chairman of the Association Farhad Garashov told Trend.
Garashov said that the products under the "Made in Azerbaijan" brand are showcased at many big exhibitions on the initiative of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy to supply the products to more countries.
“This activity continues through Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO),” the chairman of the Association added. “The products are mainly supplied to Russia, the United Arab Emirates, as well as the European countries.”
“The fairs have not yet been fully held due to COVID-19 pandemic, but it is in our interest to export good goods to the European countries,” Garashov said.
“We have increased the total production volume this year by exporting more products to the Russian market, as the Turkish pomegranates have not been supplied to the Russian market this year,” the chairman of the Association said.
“If we can improve the quality of our products, then it will be possible to export our fruits in accordance with the import certificates required by the EU countries, food certificates, that is, it is necessary for food safety,” Garashov added.
“The export data as of 2021 will be available in late January 2022 because there are still fruits collected by farmers in the Goychay district,” the chairman of the Association said. “They continue to export small volumes of these products.”
The Azerbaijan Pomegranate Producers and Exporters Association was registered in the Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice on October 31, 2016.
