Kazakshtan shares investment volume in SEZ "Astana - new city"

Some 24.5 billion tenge (nearly $98 million at the exchange rate of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan) of state investments and 200 billion tenge (over $800 million) of private investment have been made in the special economic zone (SEZ) of Kazakhstan’s Nur-Sultan city, CEO of the JSC “Astana-Technopolis” Special Economic Zone Management Company Bakytzhan Doskaziyev told Trend.

According to him, totally, products worth 3.7 trillion tenge (over $8.6 billion) were manufactured on the SEZ territory.

He noted that investors from Azerbaijan, Turkey, France, the USA, Poland, South Africa, Russia, and China are engaged in the SEZ.

"Mostly, projects are implemented by investors from Kazakhstan. There are 51 plants operating in the SEZ of Nur-Sultan, 19 plants - at the construction stage, and 10 - at the design stage. The territory of the industrial zones of the SEZ accounts for about 15,000 hectares. To date, the SEZ has enterprises producing building materials, machines, locomotives and wagons, a number of IT and start-up projects, manufacturers of medical equipment, workwear, perfumes, etc. Other enterprises are also being built to produce various industrial products," Doskaziyev said.

In addition, the design of the N2 industrial park is underway and it is scheduled to begin construction in the near future.

"SEZ provides investors and entrepreneurs with a zero rate of VAT and customs duties. This exemption from VAT is valid both during the construction of the facility and during its operation. Investors are also absolved from corporate income tax, tax on land property and land lease during the period of use," he said.
