The French Alstom company is ready to work on railway signaling and communication projects with Azerbaijan in the Karabakh region, Alstom Managing Director of Western and Central Asia Cluster Kanat Alpysbayev said in an interview with Trend.

Alpysbayev added that Alstom is closely observing Azerbaijan’s development.

“Alstom can help Azerbaijan in the implementation of the projects within the steps to develop transport infrastructure and restore Karabakh region, primarily in the field of urbanization, in the creation of transport routes between settlements and their development,” the managing director added.

“Our company has all the necessary equipment and technologies that could provide the Azerbaijani new railways with the necessary equipment,” Alpysbayev said. “We are ready to implement the light rail transport or suburban railway projects in the Azerbaijani territories liberated from Armenia’s occupation.”

The managing director said that Alstom has all the necessary technologies and products that can meet the necessary needs of this region through joint efforts.

“Alstom’s strategy in the CIS region is aimed at further expanding cooperation with the Azerbaijani railways,” Alpysbayev added. “One of the priority spheres for the development of our cooperation with the CIS countries, including those of interest to Azerbaijan, is the localization of the production of Alstom components and the repair of locomotives.”

The managing director said that the implementation of these initiatives would be a good step for the further development of cooperation in creating modern facilities and ensuring the industrial development of the CIS countries, creating jobs there.

“We could jointly produce and repair equipment on the basis of the new depots in Azerbaijan,” Alpysbayev added.
